As a teacher, my district provides four professional development days set aside for technology training, which I both attend and help to provide. Each of these days allow me to attend sessions and provide support to staff who are improving their abilities to integrate curriculum.
As an MTIP scholar, I work with technology specialists across the state to learn and grow. I also provide training to educators across the state. I am part of a listserv and communicate ideas regularly.
As an National Board Certified Teacher, I work and train with a diverse and prestigious group of teachers from across the country. I attend conferences which allow me to network with teachers to share ideas and resources. I mentor others going through the process and pass on my knowledge to them.
As a member of MACUL, I attend technology workshops with my peers at their annual conference. I also attend regular meetings for SIGPD which often address technology and professional development. This year I will present a session at this year’s MACUL conference on the use of handheld computers in the elementary classroom.
As a multiage teacher, I’ve had the opportunity to attend the National Multiage Conference, as well as conduct a presentation with my teaching partners and a few students, who created a Power Point presentation to share highlights of our classroom. I also work as part of a team with two teachers also excited and knowledgeable about the integration of technology into the classroom.
And, finally, as a graduate student at Western Michigan University, I have built relationships with others interested in technology and attended the NCREL, Learning with Technology Facilitator’s Academy.
