Shares uses of technology with others.

In April of 2002, I was selected as one of 50 Michigan Technology Integration Professional (MTIP) scholars in the state. With the other Scholars in my region, I presented technology workshops on topics such as “Using Digital Cameras”. Attached is an example of a handout for workshop participants. I also received training for several instructional technology programs including Teach For Tomorrow, Marco Polo, MI Climb, and Best Practices.
In addition, as a district Technology Integration Professional (TIP) Leader, I am able to share the information I’ve learned with my staff at district professional development days which focus on technology training. Attached is a survey I conducted after one of these days.

Participates in professional organizations.

Since 1999, I have been an active member of Michigan Association of Computer Users and Learners (MACUL) and of a special interest group in that organization which focuses on professional development (SIGPD). As a member, I attend their annual conferences and am looking forward to presenting a session at this year’s MACUL conference in March 2003 on handheld computers. This session outline is a tentative plan for my presentation.

Draws ideas and resources from varied sources.

As a member of MACUL, SIGPD, and Pi Lambda Theta, and as a participant in Presidential Awardee Academies for Excellence in Teaching Math (PAAETM), I often receive information and current research via newsletters and listservs. I refer often to various websites, such as Marco Polo and Teach for Tomorrow, when searching for lesson plan ideas and activities. I also subscribe to Educational Technology.

Participates in Professional Dialogue about Technology.

As a National Board Certified Teacher, I have the opportunity to attend numerous conferences, many of which include technology, and work with educators from across the country to discuss current issues. I also work with technology specialists as an MTIP scholar, co-chair of the district’s Curriculum Council and as a doctoral student at Western Michigan University.

Consistently seeks out new applications and tools that can be used in learning and teaching.

The implementation of our Multiage classroom demonstrates my eagerness to try new things. I am always searching for ways to make my learning more effective and I find technology helps in many ways.
This year I am piloting the use of handheld computers in the district and have made presentations to other buildings. In January 2003 I will attend a handheld workshop and plan to bring back the information I learn and share it with others in my district.
